The Blue Hat

This work was created for the Blue Hat Project  in Melbourne which I was involved with in 2006   The Blue Hat Project was the initiative of  my good friend and milliner Waltraud Reiner. The aims were to  bring awareness about  depression  in Australia and overseas, to raise funds to help  people with depression and to give people a medium /channel through which they can speak about their association with depression and to assist in the healing of this all too common condition.

We all get "the blues" from time to time, the knack is to find the beauty in it and through it and use that experience creatively to grow in strength and grace. This is one  expression of that. There is beauty and reason in everything if you look into it deeply enough.

Mankind has left many marks on this landscape.

As the eagle flies (if you were high enough) perhaps it would be a little like looking into the ends of a sawn off  branch which had dried, weathered and cracked open,  leaving only an echo of something past.  A snapshot of time?
